We are homeowners and renters across the country who know the big banks should be held
accountable for their reckless and greedy practices that have done so much harm to the rest of us. As
the economic collapse caused by Wall Street banks has led so many of us to see our wages decline,
we continue to struggle, with high payments, underwater mortgages, or both, while these companies
and their executives continue to profit.
Every few months a new program is rolled out that we hear may help us, but while some of them
help some people, most of us are left behind. These programs have either been too small to address
the magnitude of the problem, or have failed to produce results because the banks refuse to
participate.
Many of us have already had victories. We have refused to leave our homes, or even moved back
in. We have fought the banks and won. Yet our personal victories are not enough when 12 million
families are underwater, and millions more stand to lose their homes in the next few years.
We have had enough talk! It is the time for action!
We must stand together and fight together!
We are banding together, forming a united front, to demand accountability. Our goal is to both
help all those who qualify successfully access the help offered by the most recent Attorneys General
settlement and to fight for all of us who are still left out. We demand that the banks negotiate with
us – the homeowners and tenants whose lives they have destroyed. We demand accountability from
all politicians to make the banks do what is right and fair. We demand that law enforcement officals
investigate the banksters, rather than putting energy into evicting long-suffering homeowners.
We demand to sit down as equals, and negotiate the relief we need to keep our homes, as well as
to create a fair set of standards that ensures access to the American Dream for tens of millions of
working families.
